About the Author Jon F. Merz is the author of over 30 novels (including the bestselling Lawson Vampire supernatural espionage series) ranging from urban fantasy to espionage and sword & sorcery fantasy. Prior to becoming a full-time writer Jon served in the United States Air Force, protected a variety of Fortune 500 executives, and taught defensive tactics to government agencies like the State Department, Bureau of Prisons, and others. He is an active CrossFitter, a 5th degree black belt in Togakure-ryu Ninjutsu, enjoys doing GORUCK challenges, and in 2014 started modeling and acting, most recently starring as Alfred P. I just finished this book. I have been a fan of the LWson books and it was a lot of fun reading this one. This is sort of a prequel that tells the tale of the Lawson's family history as fixers. This one tells of how the first of the family was recruited to serve the council in order to keep the secret of the vampire race. There is drama and a bit of humor mixed in. I really love this series and have read all of them. I can't wait for the next one.Product details

Excellent book! Well written and a great story. Definitely a worthy prequel to the Lawson series.
Jon Metz created another page turner - hard to out down and leaving one eager for the sequel. An excellent writer plying his craft.
Excellent story. A great adventure with a Fixer trainee. Merz captures the excitement of our hero's (Lawson's) adventures in this prequel set in another time and place.
A great new series! The Wolfric and Felix characters are very interesting and I look forward to their next adventure. At some point in the series I would like to learn more about Kendrick the First Fixer. All Lawson fans will be fans of this series.
I have been following Lawson's adventures since pre-kindle days and enjoyed them all. One of the nice things about a series is being able to immerse oneself in each tale without worrying overly much about the survival of the main character. Not only does this prequel contain that safeguard, it also beautifully lays out the historical background for Lawson's world today. The setting was presented so well that I easily imagined myself "a fly on the wall", so to speak, actually there and invisibly observing the action. Holiday In Malacrav is now my favourite of all of Jon Merz' stories and I'm eagerly looking forward to learning more about Wolfric's world and his adventures.
