Darkness pervades all things, as does light in equal measure. Timeless is their struggle against one another, as perpetual as the workings of the heavens, and as fundamental as the very essence of life. But all things end, even this terrible rivalry. The time will come when one will gain dominance over the other, and thereby take all things into its hand—into brightness and hope, or into shadow and oblivion.
This monumental struggle is unknown to most, and most certainly to Fox, whose life never gave respite to ponder such things. His is another kind of struggle, and he never thought he would escape the clutches of fate’s unfair allotment. Alone and destitute, all he has to his name is rot and whatever he steals, constituting a brutal and unforgiving existence. However, everything changes when he meets a legend, a shadow of an obscured past—a man named Blake Waelgryre. This encounter, as if preordained, opens a floodgate of swift and unrelenting change, opening his eyes to a world he never knew and a life beyond all imagination. But nothing is free, and no adventure is without peril. And the truth, brought by those whose burden is to know it, can bring forth more terror than the most frightening of nightmares. In rediscovering himself, and the very nature of the world he thought beyond his reach, Fox will find himself cast into a tempest that was destined to be his, by blood and fortune.

This story revolves around an orphan boy with a pat hidden from all, even him. Soon war comes to his small village killing everyone but him thanks to a famous outlaw that saved him. Together these to travel, fighting to stay alive from the king and everyone around them.I gave this book two stars mainly because the writer absolutely destroyed the main character (the orphan). The boy was nothing but a crying, complaining, wuss afraid of everything. He did absolutely nothing up until the very last few chapters when he learns of his magic and even then he has help. I just could not stand the endless complaining.
The other thing that was annoying was the long winded chapters of nothing. If you read the first 4 chapters then skip to the last 5 chapters you will miss nothing but complaining. There are 40 chapters
Though I will give the author credit for such a long book with a semi decent plot.
I got this book for free so if it's still free give it a shot. If it's not free I don't think I would have bought it.

Waelgryre The Aerenfel Legacy Book 1 edition by Spencer Sekulin Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
One of the better books i've read on kindle.
I was very entertained by this book. I enjoyed this book and recommend it.
It's so easy to empathize with the characters because they're so well developed. The storyline flows well too. I can't wait for book 2!
This was one of the best reads I have had in awhile. The story line was fabulous and kept my attention. The characters were great and so real. Great job, I can't wait for the next book.
What an adventure! This is the best book I have read in a very long time. The story blasts off in the first chapter and takes you on a roller coaster ride all the way to the finish. You are taken on a harrowing journey over land and sea and through awe inspiring forests. A journey fraught with monstrous creatures, cold calculating villains and fantastic swordplay. The characters are remarkable and unforgettable, each one crafted thoughtfully down to the finest details. I found myself quickly invested in their journey. The plot line is fast paced and filled with twists and turns and loaded with surprises. It's a real page turner and I found myself at a loss when I finished. I wanted it to keep going. From what I gathered from the web site, this is the first book by a young new author. Book 1 of a series. What a great start! I eagerly anticipate continuing the adventure so keep writing!.
Bravo!,

I really enjoyed how the book started, the pace was good, and it seemed that there would be some good character development. I was disappointed. It is very clear after the first few chapters that this author just tried too hard to create a great novel. I think if he hadn't tried, and just let his writing flow naturally, it could have been better. However, it is very predictable and there is clear usage of a thesaurus--several 'fancy' words were just not needed in this book. These characters were very flat, although I do like Blake's character. As another note, the author would be well-advised to not state his characters' personalities, and instead just let us infer who they are. Here, the best reference I have is the princess... him going on and on over several pages about how she was not a normal princess was just plain boring and unnecessary. I did enjoy the plot and it has a lot of potential. I hope he irons out his writing process for the sequel.
P.S. Also, ew, Fox is 13 and Fiona is 17/18. I'm sorry, no girl that age is interested in a snivelly pubescent boy. That was not well thought out at all and feels like an afterthought.
